15 Minute Speed-Paints 2

More King Kong studies! I might be doing these for a while... i don't have any other dvds with me, and this is the extended edition. :O >:]

poster thanggg

I was bored and had this ink drawing from yesterday. I had an idea for type and color, but nothing to promote, so I figured I'd make a poster for a fictional tour.

This is pretty funny and well made check it out and I think im going to make the topic of the week Alice in wonderland :)

15 Minute Speed-Paints 1

Hey guys. Sup.

So I feel like maybe I've been "coasting" since graduation. Not really stepping out of my comfort zones, only doing what I'm fairly sure I can do. Etc. So I've decided that I need to spend at least 2 hours every day doing SOMETHING that is for the sake of practice and improvement.

These speedies let me improve on: composition, realistic palette, quickness, and familiarity with my wacom. Five years into digital and I'm still not totally comfortable drawing on a wacom, that's a problem!

ALSO: First person to post on my blog with the movie these are from gets a postcard mailed to them! http://mcleannews.blogspot.com

Hopefully these will get better.

=DOODLES AND MORE SHIT=

Good evening everybody, hope all of you had a great weekend and ready for the upcoming week. lets see a few things a sister blog will be created to go along with this one since there is a limit cap on the site, so that should be and even bigger motivator to get work cranking out. well then carry on with the posting !!

NAPA Journal ::Teaser::

I am gradually sculpting out my travel Journal from Japan. I am still fiddling with the basic page layouts and considering various formats, but I feel like I will go with this approach for now. This is just a sample page..it will be colored of course..I just wanted to get some feedback on "readability of handwritten text"..and whether it could flow well visually for over 50 pages or so..anyways, I know it is in its very early stages.....but feel free to crit away! :)

thanks

FIRST POST

Hey all. This is my first time posting. Here are a few pages out of my new sketch-a-rino.

BLACK & WHITE AND CHARACTER FLAWED!...

BLACK&WHITE AND CHARACTER FLAWED
Its up, published and ready to buy!
Thanks for all the support to those who helped.
Matt Fraction wrote an amazing introduction and almost all the writers I've worked with on comics have contributed a few words about the collaborations.
Asked to put something together for a few years. Hope this does those requests justice. Feedback and criticism's welcome!
cheers,

6 degrees with Sam Rockwell...

Sam starred in the movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind who co-starred Drew Barrymore(#1). Drew played along side Adam Sandler in the movie 50 First Dates (#2). Sandler was the lead in Anger Management (#3) who's cast also included an uncredited John C. Reilly (#4). John co-starred in the movie For Love of the Game (#5) which was directed by the king of zombie horror himself, Sam Raimi (#6).

Megan twittered this sweet vid I thought you guys should check out. it reminds me of the experimental animation era

Hey Doodes!
Sooooo on an off note considering the momentary topic (ZOMBIIIIIIIIIIEEEES!) I was doin' some pretty lowdown foto ref sketches for some portrait pieces. Lowdown for real - I wouldn't wonder if it's not clear who I was drawing there, hahaha. I had to draw him from all epochs of his creativity, throughout his life, and I wanna admit I approached the correct look very slowly. But that's what stretching is for right? It IS apparent in the final pieces, don't worry....

A CHALLENGE:
If ya can tell who this man (I think that much is clear, haahhaha) is you will receive a desktop pic specially doodled for you! Drop me a name you want signed under that along with the right answer in the comments and there you go. DOODLExSHIT editors not excluded from participation!

As always, thanks for checking in!

NFOX - wrapping up my first B&W collection...

Here's the cover from a self published black and white sketchbook I'm hoping to get done and printed and delivered in time for SDCC and the CHICAGO WIZARD CON. It will most certainly be available online through LULU.com so drop on by the artist's alley tables if you are attending or peep it soon online. Will post some preview spreads here in a week or so.
cheers,

Some sketches

Hey guys, in my more recent work I've been sort of rebelling against my processes of the past by trying to keep things very intuitive and simple. Eventually I want to try to adapt this style to fit some more finished and involved pieces.

Hands and Foot

What up DaS!

Here are some quick sketches done during my day job's slow time. I've got a ton more to share so I'll be back with more soonish.

cheers!

more free time on my hands

I'm a TA for Don Brandes' Illustration class that's going on now at pre-college, and they're doing watercolor. I went ahead and did some watercolor and ink shenanigans for this Anthony Hopkins portrait, along with an ink and digital portrait of The White Stripes. These were pretty quick and I'm ok with how they turned out, spent probably no more than an 1- 1.5 hours on each :]

More sketchbook updates!!

Here are a few doodles from the past week or so.
::enjoy::
