For the Tata Gala!

Just wanted to share with everyone a piece I did for the Tata Gala show, but, I couldn't enter because of funds! Inspired by Robert Mcginnis. He's an amazing illustrator, so if you have a chance take a look at his work.

In second thought here is a link that you could download of all his work.

Weekend at Bernie's

I did some of these pages while helping the gentlemen of the Illustration Academy promote the Visual Literacy Program this weekend. Along with Robyn and Ted, Jason Chan was in attendance. It was a great spending time with everyone.
PS
The title of this post has nothing to do with the actual post.

Fashion, Pin Up and Illustration Fridays!!

I haven't posted on here in a dog's age but I still check up on it everyday so here's my contribution... finally!
ps. You all are so crazy talented!! I'm proud to post among the creme de la creme of the illustration world. :) Keep up the good work everyone!

MONOTYPES AND TRANSFERS

here are some monotypes and etching ink transfers.
These were done about 3 weeks ago before andrew, robyn, kinsella and watts came.

I like the more dark, simple tranfers than the line but maybe now I can put some color on them or washes on top.

The monotypes were really fun to do (printed from copper) they were basically a test- I don't have a press so I just ran them over with my car- with appropriate towels and so forth.

all of these images are actual size- click on it to zoom in. Hope you enjoy them/ what do you think?

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

Guess who?

:: Evening Doodle Bitches! :: :)

Quick 2 hour CD sample cover design- All photoshop.

his name is brock

and he's special

edit# funny how taking a screen capture of the original file in photoshop preserves so much quality and color compared to saving a copy and uploading that jpeg

Quicky

Quick 30 min design before heading out to work.

Old women be quiltin'

Here are a couple drawings from a book project I'm workin about a lil ole lady and her quilts. Pretty fun project, allows me a fair amount of freedom with the images, as long as they are cozy and adorable. I'm having some fun with lighting and the patterns on the quilting.

This outdoor one was finished right before being told we were switching to a square format for the book. Not a big deal, but I really liked the grandeur of the image. Some straight up influence from NC Wyeth and his cloud giant.

And I was sketching some old ladies in preparation. Here is one of my less ill-fated forays into Wacom/Photoshop drawing.

:: Sketchbook Update - November - 02 - 2009 ::

Not as much time for sketching as usual, but at least something is getting done :)

Alright all you artist types

I'm looking for a new paper to work with. Something that takes pencil well and scans cleanly without a whole lot of hassle. A little bit of tooth is a plus but not necessary. I've been working with rag marker paper and so far that's my favorite but it doesn't scan as well as I would like.

REVEAL YOUR SECRETS TO ME.

ALSO: I really like the paper inside the Moleskine watercolor sketchbooks. Anybody know if there are sheets available? Or what its closest cousin is?

Also, I've been continuing the near-daily posts on my blog, here. Here are a couple from last week:

Daredevil - the man without fear!
Thought I'd go retro for Monday, yellow & black.
Been a fan since 4th grade, the
covers of the late 80's snagged me at
an early age. This sketch evolved into waaay more than
I planned, but it was fun.

ODIN

This is just a quick sketch OK, so none a you superdrawers get all cookie eyed on me OK? HeHe :)
I'll return next week...

---

I'd love Marvel characters to talk like this:

THOR SEZ:
"Bedazzzels dung brain! I got yer shit down, you ain't messin' with me!!! Feel the power a ma Thor slammer!"

ODIN SEZ:
"Don't ya fling yer thing like you know what you talk about sucker!! ODINS gonna wash out yer eardrums with a load a crap you ain't never heard of. WHAM!" (imagine big sounds)

...Hell, I can dream right?

Happy Samhain!

Been a while since I've felt like I had time to draw. I saw Erin's warmup and realized I was being silly, and not everything has to be a finished piece. So, heres a little warmup doodle. I miss Photoshop!

::Learning Photography-Feedback needed::

Hey Guys,

So I am experimenting with some photography since I am trying to expand my profession into various directions and Photography has always been another one of my passions beside drawing. I've uploaded a few more Photos on my photography blog, this time around focusing more on people rather than environments. Any feedback is valued, ...what I should work on..what 'does' work, what 'doesn't' work....also..any recommendations for a good 'affordable camera'?..budget limit being around 1000$?!

thanks everyone, just click on the pic to load the page.
