Word

Thought about finishing the hands off, but I am glad I stopped myself from painting them in. I was going crazy for these last couple weeks. Started questioning what my work was turning into and how to change it dramatically; I see now that it's not going to happen over night, so I should just keep drawing and pushing myself. My ears caught a Talib and Jay Electronica track while searching through the internets; the out come was this. Thanks for stoppin by, Keep creating.

hey lamar

this has to be my favorite out of you yet. it sounds like a Kweli track. mellow, smooth, and introspective. i hear you on wanting to change your work all the time. i struggle with that every once in a while too. it's good that you pushed through it. excess stress kills the creative spirit. keep pushing dude.

LOVE the movement of different paint styles from top to bottom here. Head and hand - differently panned!

The brain often plays it's part in this "stuckness" and keeping the drawing thoughts fresh, is what kicks that in the butt, I guess. I also struggle with figuring stuff out on a daily basis, so we're in a club again, ahaha.

How did i miss this? I'm digging the play of markmaking on this one. If I may ask, is this in a moleskine? I am having a bit of trouble with fingerprints showing through washes on moleskine pages. You seem to be avoiding that quite well.Any thoughts on that? I guess I could wash my hands...or not touch the paper so much :)

Is that a personal opinion about hip-hop on his arm?

Heh, yea it is a personal opinion. I do know great hip-hop is out there. It was a mixture of hearing something on the radio that day, and finding new music that I liked. and I dont usually have problems with finger prints when I apply washes. I usually find a happy medium between water and ink, which I test out on moleskine paper in the back of my sketchbook before taking off haha. right when I lay the ink wash down with a pretty big brush I usually use a paper towel and swip across pushing the ink through out the paper, as oppose to dabbing it.

Hope that works out for ya man. be easy and thanks for the kind words brother!
