Hi all, just a few sketches from life on a short vacation to France I just got back from. I am about to start a project that depicts NYC so I will be doing lots of these there. Godspeed everyone!

ROTOPOL HUMAN RIGHTS SHOW

HEY GALS & GUYS! TWO THINGS:
THING NUMBER ONE: This is a sketch/doodle/rough for the POST DEMOCRACY HUMAN RIGHTS show at the fantastic ROTOPOL Illustration Gallery in Kassel Germany, that opened this Monday. I guess since there have been some of you Doodlers included in the first installment called SECRET SERVICE I'll ask who is in on this? DROP ME A COMMENT-HOLLER and let me know!!
Again, this ROTOPOL show promises to be stacked with Awesome Drawers and Illustrators. I didn't have the chance to chat up my buddy MR. MEIER for a full list of contributers, but next to the already swell REGULARS, I could overhear something about some JOSH COCHRAN art hanging around...
OH YEAH, if you're interested, you can see my full contribution here on my (brand new) site: GO!
THING NUMBER TWO: As you might have seen, FLORA FRIDAY as well as my regular posting here has taken a hiatus and will be on summer break until mid August.

AL WILLIAMSON... farewell
I guess the sad news have arrived everywhere now, that the legendary Al Williamson has passed away last weekend on the 12th of June.
I'm sorry that I don't have anything more thorough to contribute but these rather quick sketches. Al Williamsons art is always powerful and loaded with fantastic moments. It's not only to me, that his way out imaginations will be sadly missed.
Farewell and rest in peace, Mr. Williamson.

B-MAN figure drawing DC DUESDAY

Some quick schooling and tooling, flat out looking sketching and hatching. No really relevant lightsources or posture dynamics in this. I'm stealing (as in stylistic heritage - not actual pictures) from all kinds of sources here... Adams, Sienkiewicz, Toppi, Janson, Romita, Bisley, Simonson, Bernet ...but more out of childish admiration than anything else. FUN!

ALL KINDS OF HUMBUG!

BACK IN THE SADDLE - COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE SADDLE! I'm experiencing some time shifts again, whooo whooooo, it's a mash-up! FLORA FRIDAY has landed next to MESSED UP MONDAYS (Your turn now Rich) and that is happening on top of a cranky MARVEL thing. <-------- EDIT: It's the Punisher.
Shatly, I didn't get to put some ink to the bigger Marvel Mondays I had planned for this week - I'm quite swamped with work, and that's a good thing, right?
Also, Illustration seems to sometimes take the fun and mindlessness out of drawing, so I'm keeping myself "balanced" with MESS UP'S - MESS UP'S - MESS UP'S!

MANBAT on DC DUESDAY

More crap from the crapshack central... in a quickshot manner.
DC: MANBAT = So awesome! MARVEL: MORBIUS the living Vampire! GIL KANE HAS GOT THE GROOVE! Morbius looks kinda tired or hung over on something. If you think about it, the Comic Vampire/Bat-thing is a pretty great and hilarious (illustrative) concept.

EEV! - KIRBY MONDAYS

EEV from the very fantastic DEVIL DINOSAUR Comics by KIRBY! I happily happened to catch a couple of these at a local convention - SO RAD! I hope to do some full figures from next week onwards... let's see. Lot's in the pipe this week. ENJOY and thanks for checking!

MORE HEX - VERTIGO VEDNESDAY

Learning, learning, learning... the more the better. I have long hesitated to just break into the tips and curves that make the look of the sable brush - relying on it more for it's precision (...and all the unforgiving mess ups...) it enables. But I figured I wanna learn this stuff, since all of that classic inking of the likes of CANIFF, MARSH and TOTH really turns me on AND I wanted to catch a glimpse of how that works just purely out of interest. Of course, that's a path not thread lightly, as these are the masters of Comics, each one of them a hallmark of their own, their greatness cemented by thousands of fantastic drawings.
So I'm just foolin' and having fun with my humble stumblings and onwards I go.
Another thing that I detect would be, that I'm applying some of the lines/techniques my friend SAM HITI brought to Killer hights... that makes me even more uncomfortable, but I hope this to be only a cough that will pass, a demon, quickly driven out by more healthy drawing and thinking.
So, ta! ...And THANKS for reading all that!

MARVEL MONDAYS - SKETCH SKIT
OK, OK! Some more ruff and touff doodles. When I think Marvel, I think JACK KIRBY first. What he brought up and that all we enjoy now is built on the foundation of the Artists of that time, artist like him. Really strong and powerfull stuff, kicks you in the butt and makes you think. A real trailblazer who did an infinite number of drawings and PAGES, knocked them out, his mind there 24/7. Loving it till the last drop.

It's fun to do something quick and small, makes the hand wonder where it's sureness went, hahahaa.

Also, some more Gene Colan DRACULA! He kept on doing his thing with TOMB OF DRACULA, issue after issue, on and on, a true burner.

Wolverine to end it, BYE!
